Is Elon Musk serious about starting a third political party in the US?

July 1, 2025: Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is making political waves once again — this time with a threat to form a third political party in the US.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to his social media platform, X, to slam US President Donald Trump’s proposed domestic spending initiative, dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Musk labeled the bill as “insane” and said that if it passes, he will immediately establish a new political faction called the “America Party.”

In a post on X, Musk wrote, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”

Musk’s remarks reflect growing dissatisfaction among some voters with the traditional two-party system, as well as rising tensions between the tech mogul and the political establishment. His proposed “America Party” promises to be a voice for ordinary citizens and a challenge to what he describes as the entrenched “uniparty” of Democrats and Republicans.

Whether the threat materializes into a real political movement remains to be seen, but Musk’s statement has already ignited fresh debate over the future of American politics.
