Is Iran’s Regime on the Brink as Israel Strikes Deep?

June 18, 2025: Tensions between Israel and Iran continue to intensify, with fiery rhetoric and ongoing military strikes pushing the region closer to a broader confrontation

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, declared that Iran’s regime may be nearing collapse. In a statement posted on X, Katz wrote, “Symbols of power are being bombed and collapsing – from the broadcasting authority and soon other targets, as masses of residents flee. This is how dictatorships fall.”

Katz also warned Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of a fate similar to Saddam Hussein’s, stating that Tehran’s aggressive actions could lead to catastrophic consequences for its leadership.

In response, Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, promised strong and unrestrained retaliation. “We will not show any reluctance in defending our people, security, and land,” he said.

Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized that Tehran had been engaged in a diplomatic process before the recent escalation. “This war was imposed in the midst of diplomacy,” he stated, noting that Iran had planned to participate in talks in Muscat.

While expressing openness to future dialogue, Baghaei said Iran no longer trusts the U.S., believing that Israel’s aggression occurred with Washington’s prior approval. He urged the international community—especially members of the UN Security Council—to uphold international law and intervene to stop what he called Israeli aggression.

Baghaei also addressed speculation over U.S. military involvement from neighboring Arab nations, stating that Iran trusts its Arab allies will not allow their land to be used for attacks. “We are very confident our Arab neighbors would not allow U.S. forces to use their territory against Iran,” he said, affirming that Iran’s current focus remains on targeting Israeli military installations.
