Could a Terrorist’s Anger Over Kapil Sharma’s Joke Have Sparked the Shooting at His Canadian Café?
July 11, 2025: Italy’s renewable energy ambitions are surging, as over 1,300 expressions of interest—totaling 17.5GW of proposed solar PV capacity—have been submitted under the country’s latest government auction, managed by the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE).
This marks the first auction under the new “FER X Transitory” decree, aimed at accelerating the deployment of clean energy projects across the country.
The minimum target of 1GW—with a 600MW floor—is nearly double the solar capacity awarded in previous rounds. The last two tenders saw only 278.5MW and 321.6MW awarded, respectively.
Italy’s solar PV market has witnessed significant growth:
Additionally, the government recently launched a €323 million agrivoltaics tender, following underutilization of the €1.7 billion budget in the previous round.
This surge in interest reflects Italy’s growing appetite for clean energy, backed by increasingly ambitious policies and funding instruments.
