“It’s Her Choice…”, Says Babita Phogat On Sister Vinesh Phogat Contesting On Congress Ticket

In the lead-up to the 2024 Haryana elections, Babita Phogat, a leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former wrestler, shared her thoughts on her sister Vinesh Phogat’s decision to contest elections as a Congress candidate from the Julana Assembly Constituency.

While Babita is not running this time, she expressed her respect for Vinesh’s choice to join Congress, particularly following her involvement in protests against BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh last year.

Babita emphasized the importance of voter participation, urging the citizens of Haryana to exercise their right to vote for the development and welfare of the state. “It’s everyone’s personal decision which party they want to be affiliated with. I respect her (Vinesh Phogat’s) decision,” she remarked.

As Vinesh prepares to face BJP candidate Captain Yogesh Bairagi in a contest that could shape the political landscape, the stakes are high. The BJP seeks to secure a third consecutive term, while Congress aims to reclaim power amidst anti-incumbency sentiments and ongoing farmer and wrestler protests. Voting will take place, with results set to be counted on October 8.
