Jamal Musiala Suffers Serious Injury in Bayern Munich vs PSG Clash at FIFA Club World Cup 2025

July 6, 2025: Bayern Munich’s hopes in the FIFA Club World Cup took a massive hit after their star midfielder Jamal Musiala picked up a serious leg injury during the quarterfinal match against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Saturday. The incident happened in the first half at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, as reported by The New York Times.

What Exactly Happened?

Musiala, just 22 years old, was trying to seize a loose ball inside the penalty area when PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma came rushing out to intercept. Unfortunately, during the play, Donnarumma accidentally collided with Musiala, catching his left leg badly. The impact was so intense that players from both teams immediately called for medical help.

It was a heart-wrenching moment on the pitch — replays of the incident were not shown on the big screens in the stadium due to the graphic nature of the injury. Donnarumma was visibly emotional and appeared shaken after he realised the extent of the damage caused.

Musiala Taken Off on Stretcher

Musiala had to be stretchered off the field and did not return for the rest of the match. Bayern Munich struggled to regain momentum after the injury and eventually lost 2-0 to PSG. Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé sealed the win for the French side, even though PSG were down to nine men following red cards to Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernández.

What’s Next for Jamal Musiala?

As of now, Bayern Munich has not issued an official update regarding Musiala’s condition. His availability for the remainder of the FIFA Club World Cup — and even the beginning of the 2025-26 season — is now under serious doubt. Prior to the injury, Musiala had already netted three goals in the tournament and was seen as one of Bayern’s most promising performers.

A Quick Look at Musiala’s Career

Jamal Musiala joined Bayern Munich’s senior team in 2020 at the age of just 17. Since then, he has consistently impressed fans and critics with his skill and composure on the field. In 2022, he made history by becoming the first teenager to represent Germany in a FIFA World Cup since 1958.

Let’s hope for a quick and complete recovery for this young football sensation. The football world will surely miss his magic on the field in the coming weeks.
