Jasprit Bumrah Shatters All Time ICC Ranking Record, Becomes Highest-Ever Ranked Indian Test Bowler

January 1, 2025: In a historic moment for Indian cricket, Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a significant milestone in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings. On Wednesday, Bumrah surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin’s landmark of 904 rating points to become the highest-ranked Indian Test bowler in ICC rankings history, with 907 points. This achievement places him at joint-17th in the all-time list alongside England’s Derek Underwood.

Bumrah’s exceptional performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been the driving force behind this ranking. His brilliant showing in the Melbourne Test (MCG), where he claimed nine wickets, has helped him consolidate his position as the No. 1 Test bowler in the most recent rankings update. His remarkable control and relentless pace have made him one of the standout bowlers of the current era.

Pat Cummins (Australia’s Test Captain) saw a notable rise in the rankings. Following his impressive performance in the Boxing Day Test against India, where he claimed six wickets and played a crucial 90-run knock, Cummins gained 15 rating points. He moved up one place to secure the No. 3 spot in the Test bowling rankings. Additionally, Cummins now holds third place in the Test All-Rounder Rankings.
