Joe and Jill Biden to Make First Post-White House TV Appearance on The View
Washington, D.C., May 1: Former U.S. President Joe Biden and former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden are set to make their first television interview since leaving the White House on ABC’s The View. The live interview will air on May 8, marking a highly anticipated return to the public stage for the Bidens.
The couple will appear alongside co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sarah Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro to reflect on their post-presidential life, Joe Biden’s political legacy, and the current political climate as the country prepares for a pivotal 2025 election season.
Biden’s decision to sit down with The View comes as no surprise. He has a long history with the show, having appeared 10 times, including a landmark moment in September 2024, when he became the first sitting U.S. president to appear live on the program. Notably, Biden also chose The View as his first media stop when announcing his 2019 presidential campaign.
The appearance comes at a crucial time for the Democratic Party. Earlier this week, Vice President Kamala Harris — now the party’s official presidential nominee after Biden exited the 2024 re-election race — delivered her first major address since the transition. Her speech set the tone for the upcoming campaign and further underscored the importance of the Bidens’ return to public conversation.
The May 8 interview is expected to draw strong viewership and offer insight into the Bidens’ reflections on their White House years and their views on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the nation.
