Buckingham Palace says the king is recovering well and remains in good spirits, despite postponing engagements due to mild treatment-related side effects.

London, March 28:
Britain’s King Charles III was briefly admitted to hospital on Thursday due to side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace confirmed. The visit was described by palace sources as a “minor bump in the road”, with no long-term health concerns anticipated.

The 76-year-old monarch, who was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer in February, was discharged the same day and has since returned to Clarence House. As a precautionary measure, his Friday public engagements in Birmingham have been postponed.

“His Majesty was due to receive credentials from three ambassadors this afternoon and undertake four engagements tomorrow. He is greatly disappointed to be missing them,” the Palace said, adding that the king hopes to reschedule the appearances soon and “offers his deepest apologies” to those involved.

While the palace did not elaborate on the specific side effects, a royal source assured the media that this was a normal reaction to treatment and reiterated that King Charles’ recovery remains on a positive path. The king, known for his strong work ethic, is reportedly continuing with desk work and calls from his private study.

🏛️ State Visit to Italy Remains On Track

Despite this minor setback, officials have confirmed that Charles and Queen Camilla’s planned state visit to Italy next month will proceed as scheduled. The monarch’s health is said to be closely monitored by medical advisors who remain optimistic.

Charles’ diagnosis came less than 18 months into his reign, marking an unexpectedly challenging start. However, his return to a full working schedule in recent weeks has been seen as a sign of resilience.

“The king’s medical team is fully engaged with planning his schedule,” said the royal source. “Treatment reactions can be unpredictable, but His Majesty is in good form and remains committed to his duties.”

👑 A Family Facing Health Battles

King Charles’ health news coincides with that of Catherine, Princess of Wales, who also announced her own cancer treatment journey earlier this year. Like Charles, she is said to be in remission and slowly returning to public life.

The royal family continues to receive an outpouring of public support as they navigate these personal challenges while fulfilling their national duties.
