Mansukh Mandaviya Honors India's Men, Women Kho Kho World Cup-Winning Teams
January 22, 2025: India made history on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium by winning both the men’s and women’s Kho Kho World Cup titles.
The Indian teams’ historic victories were celebrated by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, who felicitated them for their monumental achievement. Mandaviya praised both teams in a tweet, expressing how proud the nation was of their success in lifting the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup trophies in their respective categories.
The women’s team delivered a commanding performance, defeating Nepal 78-40 in the final, while the men’s team triumphed with a 54-36 win over Nepal. Both teams had previously showcased their dominance in the tournament, with the women securing victories over South Korea, Iran, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and South Africa to reach the finals. The men’s team had a similarly impressive run to the title.
The teams were also welcomed by the Sports Ministry officials, who showered them with garlands and sweets, and a motivating speech from the Ministers further fueled their pride in representing India on the global stage.
This victory not only crowns India as the inaugural world champions of Kho Kho but also represents a major milestone in bringing global recognition to this traditional Indian sport.
