Marla Maples Leads Push as Florida Bans Weather Modification Amid Texas Flood Fears

As speculation swirls about the potential role of geoengineering in recent weather events, Marla Maples, longtime activist and co-founder of the Global Wellness Forum, has emerged as a leading voice in the movement. Her advocacy efforts played a key role as Florida became the first U.S. state to criminalize such practices, following the enactment of Senate Bill 56 on July 1, 2025.

Marla Maples, co-founder of the Global Wellness Forum and a known advocate against geoengineering, has long warned about the dangers of manipulating weather patterns. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Maples described weather modification as a human attempt to “control the skies” through the use of aerosol sprays, cloud seeding, and frequency-based technologies — methods she believes are often deployed without public awareness or consent.

Florida’s new law, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, bans the release of chemical compounds aimed at altering weather, climate, or solar intensity. It also mandates reporting of any such activity by public-use airports. Attorney General James Uthmeier backed the move, saying, “Injecting our atmosphere with novel chemical compounds to block the sun is a dangerous path—especially in Florida, where sunshine is our most valuable resource.”

While supporters of the bill point to incidents like Texas’ floods as reasons to regulate atmospheric interventions, others remain skeptical. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, acknowledged the speculation but stated, “To the best of my knowledge, there is zero evidence of anything related to anything like weather modification.”
