Mitchell Starc Registers Unwanted Records Against England By Conceding 28 Runs In An Over
Mitchell Starc had a rough day on the field during the fourth ODI against England at Lord’s, as he delivered the most expensive over ever bowled by an Australian in ODI history.
In the final over of England’s innings, all-rounder Liam Livingstone smashed Starc for 28 runs, including four sixes and a boundary. Starc’s figures, already under pressure, worsened, ending with 0/70 from his eight overs at an economy of 8.75.
This unfortunate over surpassed the previous Australian record for most expensive over in ODIs, which stood at 26 runs, shared by Xavier Doherty, Adam Zampa, and Cameron Green. Despite the match being a 39-over-per-side rain-hit contest, Livingstone’s explosive hitting took England to 312/5.
Australia’s response was abysmal, bowled out for just 126 in 24.4 overs, suffering a massive 186-run defeat. Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse led England’s bowling attack with impressive spells.
England’s Harry Brook played a starring role with 87 runs, and Livingstone’s late fireworks secured him Player of the Match honors, leveling the five-match series at 2-2 .
This match also marked some record lows for Australia. Their total of 126 was their second-lowest score at Lord’s and their lowest ODI total after a 50-plus opening partnership .
