MoS Muraleedharan extends wishes on opening of US’ largest hand-carved Hindu temple in New Jersey

New Delhi [India]: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan on Sunday extended wishes for the grand opening of the US’ largest hand-carved Hindu temple, Akshardham in New Jersey.

In a congratulatory message, he wrote on X, “Congratulations on the grand opening of #Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey! This moment is a source of great pride for India, symbolizing collective dedication and unity. I extend my warmest congratulations to everyone involved. Akshardham’s creation is a testament to the visionary guidance of revered Guru Mahant Swami Maharaj and Guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj”.

The construction of this Mahamandir began in 2015 and is set to be inaugurated by Mahant Swami Maharaj, and dignitaries on October 8, 2023.

Minister of State for I&B, DL Murugan also extended wishes for the opening of the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in New Jersey.

“Congratulations on the grand opening of Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey! This is a moment of immense pride for us Hindus, marking another instance of Indian excellence on the global stage.

The fruition of this project, which demanded 12 years of tireless dedication from over 12,500 volunteers across North America, is a testament to our collective strength. Spread across 185 acres, Akshardham stands as the largest Hindu temple on American soil, adorned with symbols of Sanatan Dharma.

Our hearts swell with pride. We extend our warmest congratulations to all. This achievement elevates the reputation of Indians worldwide, a testament to the visionary guidance of Guru Mahant Swami Maharaj and Guru Pramukh Swami Maharaj”, he wrote on X.

The construction of this Mahamandir began in 2015 with the help of 12,500 volunteers across North America. The temple is known as BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham. After 12 years of relentless effort of the volunteers, the large temple covering 183 acres of land will be open to the public from Monday.

The stone Mahamandir, set to become the centerpiece of the Akshardham campus, is a marvel of craftsmanship and devotion, blending intricate artistry with spiritual significance.

Akshardham in New Jersey marks the third such cultural complex globally. The first Akshardham was created in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, India, in 1992, followed by Akshardham in New Delhi in 2005.
