Muhammad Yunus Inquires About Tamim Iqbal’s Health After He Suffers Heart Attack In Bangladesh

March 24, 2025: Bangladesh’s former national cricket captain, Tamim Iqbal, was rushed to a hospital on Monday after suffering a massive heart attack during a game at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP-3) ground in Savar. The incident occurred while Tamim was playing, and he was immediately attended to by medical staff before being taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

In response to the emergency, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, expressed concern over Tamim’s health and inquired about his condition. Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder spoke with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, who confirmed that Tamim was quickly transferred to the hospital, where an angiogram was conducted to assess the extent of the heart attack.

The BCB expressed its readiness to support Tamim’s treatment and stay in close contact with his medical team. Nizam Uddin assured that regular updates would be provided to the Chief Adviser regarding Tamim’s recovery.

According to BKSP chief cricket coach Montu Dutta, Tamim had appeared in good spirits before the incident. He was reportedly fine during the toss but began to feel unwell and chose to leave the field, driving himself to the hospital despite medical advice to remain at the ground. He was arranging an air ambulance for further medical assistance.

Doctors at the hospital confirmed the heart attack and performed an angiogram and angioplasty to remove the blockage. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and Tamim is now under observation. The swift coordination between BKSP medical staff and the hospital ensured prompt treatment for the cricket icon.

As a key figure in Bangladesh cricket, Tamim has represented his country in 70 Tests, 243 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 78 T20 matches. He has also led the national team at various stages during his illustrious career. Fans and the cricket community are now eagerly waiting for updates on his recovery.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board continues to monitor his health closely and has pledged any necessary support for his treatment.
