A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Friday, with the tremors rippling across borders and wreaking havoc in Thailand, where a 30-storey under-construction building collapsed in Bangkok, reportedly trapping 43 workers under the debris.

The tremors were also felt across eastern India and parts of Bangladesh, sparking panic but causing no immediate casualties in those areas.

   Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared a state of emergency in Bangkok after the capital witnessed significant structural damage, including the dramatic collapse of a high-rise construction site in the Chatuchak area.

   The collapsed structure, intended for government offices, disintegrated within seconds, releasing a cloud of dust and chaos. Emergency services are working to rescue the 43 workers believed to be trapped.
