Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has shared his strategy for tackling Rishabh Pant, a player known for his explosive and aggressive batting style.
Lyon acknowledged Pant’s immense talent and the challenges he presents, noting that when bowling to someone as “electric” as Pant, the margin for error is incredibly small.
Lyon explained that his approach would be to keep Pant “in his crease” and push him to defend more, in the hope of creating chances for dismissal. He emphasized that he’s not afraid of being hit for a six, but instead views it as a challenge to bowl smartly and force Pant into mistakes.
India, which has won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, including two in Australia, will be looking to extend their dominance. Australia, on the other hand, is aiming for their first series win since 2014-15.
The first Test starts in Perth on November 22, 2024, and will be followed by matches in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, concluding in January 2025.
