The Israeli Prime Minister praises the military and negotiators for securing the hostages’ release while condemning the chaotic conditions during their handover.
Jerusalem, January 31: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed home three Israelis who were freed from captivity in Gaza on Thursday while warning Hamas against further violations of the hostage agreement.
Agam Berger, Arbel Yehud, and Gadi Moses were released amid tense and chaotic conditions, prompting Netanyahu to issue a strongly worded statement.
“Agam, Arbel, Gadi—welcome home. The entire State of Israel embraces you, as do my wife Sara and I,” he said.
Netanyahu Credits Military and Negotiators for Hostage Release
Netanyahu praised the efforts of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and negotiators, emphasizing that their firm stance was key in securing the release.
“This release was achieved, first of all, thanks to our heroic soldiers, and it was also achieved thanks to the steadfast and determined stand that we took during the negotiations,” he stated.
Israeli PM Condemns Chaos in Gaza, Issues Warning to Hamas
However, Netanyahu also criticized Hamas for the disorderly and dangerous conditions the hostages faced upon their release.
“We will not accept violations of the agreement. During the release of our hostages today, we all saw shocking scenes. We made it clear to the mediators that we do not intend to accept any risk to our hostages.”
“And I will add: Whoever dares to harm our hostages—will pay the price.”
