March 15, 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has received a significant boost ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season as all-rounder Nitish Reddy has successfully cleared his fitness test after recovering from a side strain injury.

Reddy, who had been sidelined due to the injury, is now fully fit and has passed the Yo-Yo test with a score of 18, according to an ESPNcricinfo press release. His recovery comes as great news for SRH, who are aiming to bounce back from a disappointing final defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last year.

Although Reddy had to miss out on India’s Champions Trophy squad due to the injury, his return to fitness means that SRH will benefit from his presence in both the batting and bowling departments. Reddy’s all-round abilities make him a valuable asset, adding depth to the team’s lineup and offering more options for captaincy in both disciplines.

The IPL 2025 season, which is set to begin on March 22, will see SRH striving to go one step further and secure the title this time around. Last year’s loss to KKR in the final left the team with unfinished business, and Reddy’s inclusion could play a pivotal role in their title chase.

Having been retained by SRH during the mega-auction in 2025, Reddy is expected to join the team for the pre-tournament camp starting this Sunday. His performance in the 2024 season was impressive, as he scored 303 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 142.2, in addition to taking three wickets.

Reddy had previously missed some of his rehab due to a longer-than-expected recovery time, but his progress has been commendable, and he recently bowled in a practice match without any discomfort. The BCCI medical team ensured that Reddy’s recovery process was thorough and well-managed.

The 25-year-old cricketer’s return is also an encouraging sign for his international career. Reddy made his T20I debut for India against Bangladesh and delivered a standout performance. Additionally, he made history as the first Indian batter to score a century in Australia while batting at No. 8 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024.

Though Reddy’s IPL debut came in 2023 with limited opportunities, his breakthrough season last year was a game-changer, playing a key role in SRH’s run to the final. His return in IPL 2025 brings hope and strengthens SRH’s squad as they aim to make a strong start to the new season.
