Novak Djokovic Dominates Moutet to Secure Spot in French Open Third Round

Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic stays focused and determined, overcoming a spirited challenge from France’s Corentin Moutet to advance in the French Open.

Paris [France], May 30: Novak Djokovic continued his quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title with a commanding victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet at the French Open 2025. In a highly-anticipated second-round clash, Djokovic showcased his superior skills and composure to secure a 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(1) win on Thursday in Paris.

According to the ATP’s official website, Novak Djokovic faced some tricky moments during the match as Moutet entertained the French Open crowd with his signature drop shots and impressive hustle. Despite Moutet’s efforts, Djokovic’s experience and precision ultimately proved too much, as he overcame every challenge to keep his French Open hopes alive.

The match, which lasted just over three hours, demonstrated why Novak Djokovic is a three-time French Open champion. Fresh off his Geneva Open triumph where he clinched his 100th ATP Tour-level title, Djokovic’s form looked sharper than ever. His recent wins have erased memories of early exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid, signaling that he’s ready to take on the clay-court challenge in Paris.

Speaking after his victory at the French Open, Djokovic said: “Mentally I had to stay concentrated and prepared for a match like that. Corentin is a player who has great speed — it was a great battle, especially in the third set. I saved a set point there… and at that moment, anything is possible. I found the shots I needed and managed to stay calm on the court.”

Djokovic’s next opponent at the French Open will be determined in the coming days, but his eyes remain firmly set on the coveted 25th Grand Slam trophy — an achievement that would further solidify his status as one of tennis’ all-time greats.

Meanwhile, in other French Open action, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner cruised past veteran Frenchman Richard Gasquet in straight sets to reach the third round, ending Gasquet’s 22nd and final appearance at Roland Garros.

With Novak Djokovic’s determination and dominance on display, fans and tennis enthusiasts worldwide are eager to see if he can extend his French Open legacy and claim his 25th Grand Slam title in Paris.
