Olympic Gold Medalist Kyle Snyder Arrested in Prostitution Sting in Ohio
May 14 — Kyle Snyder, a decorated American wrestler who rose to international fame as the youngest U.S. Olympic wrestling gold medalist, was arrested in Columbus, Ohio, last week during a prostitution sting operation, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
Snyder, 29, was charged with engaging in prostitution, according to Columbus police. Court records related to the case do not currently list an attorney for the athlete.
A three-time NCAA champion during his tenure at Ohio State University and a three-time world champion, Snyder made history at just 20 years old when he clinched gold in the 97 kg freestyle category at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. He went on to win silver at the Tokyo Games and narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
His arrest marks a stark turn in the career of one of the most accomplished wrestlers in U.S. history. Further details about the sting operation and court proceedings have yet to be released.
