May 7, 2025: New Delhi – The nation continues to remain on high alert following the launch of Operation Sindoor, India’s strategic response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack. The tri-services operation, conducted at 1:44 AM on May 7, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Air Force Takes Over Chandigarh Airport

In one of the day’s most significant developments, the Indian Air Force assumed full control of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh. All domestic and international flights have been suspended until further orders. CEO Ajay Kumar of CHIAL confirmed the precautionary measure amid prevailing security concerns.

  • Delhi and NCR: Security has been tightened across Delhi, with mock drills scheduled and key installations under surveillance.
  • Uttar Pradesh: The DGP declared a red alert, instructing coordination with defence units and boosting protection of critical assets.
  • Schools Shut: Educational institutions in Jaisalmer, Jammu & Kashmir, and NCR were shut or dismissed early in light of security drills.

  • Home Minister Amit Shah called Operation Sindoor “Bharat’s response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam,” reaffirming the Modi government’s resolve.
  • Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit lauded the strike as a “good and right action”, saying the three forces deserve full credit.
  • Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal praised the army’s bravery and declared, “140 crore Indians stand with our forces. Jai Hind!
  • Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang also hailed the operation, emphasizing national unity.

  • Pragati Jagdale, wife of slain Pahalgam victim Santosh Jagdale, said: “Operation Sindoor is a fitting tribute.”
  • Lt Vinay Narwal’s father called the strikes “aptly named” and said they deliver justice.
  • Syed Nowshaad, brother of Kashmiri local Syed Adil Hussain Shah who died saving tourists, thanked the government for avenging his brother’s death.

Muzaffarabad Blackout, Pakistan Fires Back

After the Indian strike, Muzaffarabad in PoK experienced a complete blackout. In retaliation, Pakistan initiated artillery shelling across the LoC, leading to civilian casualties. The situation remains tense, with India promising to respond proportionately to any further provocation.
