Operation Sindoor: PM Modi To Address Nation at 8 PM Following Ceasefire with Pakistan
New Delhi, May 12:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 PM today, his first public statement since India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians, including 24 Indian tourists.

The operation, a precise military retaliation targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, was launched after investigations confirmed the involvement of Pakistani nationals linked to the banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba. The attack had sparked national outrage, prompting diplomatic measures such as the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, visa cancellations, and the closure of the Attari border.
Among those killed in the strikes were key operatives from Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, including:
Yusuf Azhar, Masood Azhar’s brother-in-law, was a wanted terrorist linked to the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC 814, which had forced India to release Masood Azhar from jail.
Following India’s targeted strikes, Pakistan launched drones and missiles toward Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab, continuing shelling across the LoC and international border. In response, India conducted calibrated counter-strikes on key Pakistani military sites, including:
A ceasefire was announced on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump confirming the development. India, however, clarified that the ceasefire was the result of a direct conversation between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, without crediting any third-party mediation.
The Indian government has made it clear that any future act of terrorism emanating from Pakistan will be treated as an act of war, with a firm and decisive military response.
Prime Minister Modi’s address is expected to outline India’s strategy moving forward, its resolve on national security, and a message to both citizens and the international community regarding India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
