Paank Condemns Surge in Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan, Urges Global Action Against Pakistani Abuses

May 12, 2025: Baloch rights organisation Paank has issued a strong condemnation of a new wave of enforced disappearances reportedly carried out by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, describing the actions as part of a systemic campaign of repression against the Baloch people.

According to Paank, a series of abductions took place between late April and mid-May 2025, with victims forcibly taken from their homes and workplaces in various regions of Balochistan. In a recent post on X, the group documented several alarming incidents, highlighting the case of Gull Sher, who was allegedly abducted from his home in Gebon, Turbat on April 25. Sher, who had returned to Balochistan for a visit from the UAE where he worked, was reportedly taken during a raid by security forces.

On May 7, Rasool Bakhsh was abducted from his shop in Ambi Kulanch, Gwadar district. Paank noted that Bakhsh is a recurrent victim of enforced disappearances, having previously been detained without due process and was actively engaged in court proceedings before his latest abduction.

Perhaps most distressing was the May 11 incident in Dera Bugti, where three individuals — Resho Bugti, Dad Muhammad, and his young son Rahzan Bugti — were allegedly taken during coordinated night-time raids. The targeting of entire families, according to Paank, reveals a growing pattern of collective punishment and a deliberate attempt to intimidate and silence the Baloch community.

“These abductions are a grave violation of human rights,” Paank declared in an official statement. “They represent a brutal continuation of Pakistan’s campaign of oppression and systematic targeting of Baloch civilians.”

The group has called on the United Nations, international human rights organisations, and foreign governments to urgently intervene. Paank appealed for global accountability mechanisms to be activated against Pakistan for what it categorises as ongoing crimes against humanity in Balochistan.

Paank continues to document such cases in hopes of drawing international attention to what it believes is a growing humanitarian crisis.
