“Pakistan Agrees To Immediate Ceasefire,” Confirms Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar

After Trump’s mediation, both nations agree to cease hostilities; Pakistan claims commitment to regional peace, India reiterates zero-tolerance on terrorism.

🗓️ May 10, 2025 | Pakistan has officially confirmed its agreement to an immediate ceasefire with India, just moments after former US President Donald Trump announced that his diplomatic efforts had led to a “full and immediate ceasefire” between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar wrote:

“Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!”


US-Mediated Peace Deal

Trump, who announced the breakthrough on his Truth Social platform, said:

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries.”

He praised both nations for showing “common sense and great intelligence” in de-escalating the high-stakes conflict that had intensified since the Pahalgam terror attack.

DGMO Communication, Next Steps

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the ceasefire through a brief press interaction:

“The DGMO of Pakistan called his Indian counterpart at 3:30 PM IST today. Both sides have agreed to a ceasefire on land, air, and sea. The two DGMOs will speak again on May 12 at 12 noon.”


India Sticks To Anti-Terrorism Doctrine

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reiterated India’s stance:

“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
