Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan claims India deployed Israeli-origin Harop drones to hit military targets in major cities; Karachi airport shut, tensions surge.

In a dramatic escalation of cross-border hostilities, the Pakistan Army on Thursday accused India of launching drone strikes on Lahore, Karachi, and other urban centres, just a day after India’s missile operation ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

According to Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistan military, India used Israeli-made Harop drones in the overnight offensive, allegedly aimed at military positions in Pakistan’s largest cities.
“Last night, India showed another act of aggression by sending drones to multiple locations,” General Chaudhry said from Rawalpindi.
“One drone struck a military target near Lahore, injuring four personnel.”
While no fatalities have been reported so far, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority announced that Karachi Airport would remain closed until 6 PM (local time), with Islamabad and Lahore airports briefly shut “for operational reasons.”

The Indian Ministry of Defence has yet to issue an official statement on the Pakistani claims.
These developments come on the heels of India’s precision missile strikes under Operation Sindoor, in which nine high-value terrorist bases were neutralized, including Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Bahawalpur base and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters in Muridke. The strikes were launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians.

Pakistan’s military has warned of continued “aggressive posturing” from India and promised retribution for what it called a “naked act of war.”
