‘Pakistan breeds terrorism’: Indian diplomat's strong rebuttal at WHO goes viral
Geneva, May 22, 2025 – In a scathing diplomatic response, Indian Foreign Service officer Anupama Singh called out Pakistan’s role in fostering terrorism during her address at the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva. Exercising India’s right of reply, Singh asserted, “A state that breeds terrorism cannot masquerade as its victim.”
Singh’s sharp remarks came in the wake of Pakistan’s repeated attempts to raise political matters in international forums. In her reply, she reminded global delegates of Pakistan’s well-documented record of harbouring terror networks.
“Let us not forget the sponsors and organisers of terrorism operate from Pakistani soil,” Singh said. “In response, India launched Operation Sindoor — precise, proportionate and focused on the infrastructure of terror inside Pakistan.”
Singh emphasized that India’s counter-offensive was strictly aimed at terror hideouts and not civilians:
“We took measures to ensure their civilians are neither targeted nor harmed. Rather, only the Pakistan-trained terrorists and their well-known hideouts were struck.”
She also accused Pakistan of spreading disinformation about the Indus Waters Treaty, saying the country was “trying to obfuscate the issue through false narratives.”
A video clip of her speech, in which she systematically dismantled Pakistan’s claims while maintaining diplomatic decorum, quickly gained traction on social media, earning widespread praise in India.
Singh’s statement comes at a time when India is deploying multi-party delegations to world capitals to expose Pakistan’s support for terrorism. These outreach missions, led by MPs including Sanjay Jha and Shrikant Shinde, have begun visiting Japan, UAE, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.
“Zero tolerance against terrorism,” declared the MEA, reinforcing India’s stance as delegations fanned out to build international support post-Operation Sindoor.
