India’s Ministry of Defence identifies top Pakistani officials present at the burial of US-designated global terrorist Abdul Rauf; asserts zero-tolerance policy through precision strikes in Operation Sindoor.
New Delhi [India], May 12: In a significant revelation post-Operation Sindoor, India has publicly named high-ranking Pakistani officials who attended the funeral of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abdul Rauf, a US-designated global terrorist, killed in the cross-border airstrikes.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the funeral of Abdul Rauf was held in Muridke, Pakistan. The attendees included top brass of the Pakistan Army and police officials: Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain, Maj Gen Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohd Furqan (Administration), Punjab Inspector General Usman Anwar, legislator Malik Sohaib Ahmed, and others.
Operation Sindoor targeted nine key terror infrastructure sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). These included terror hubs in Muridke, Bahawalpur, Syedna Bilal, Sawal Nala, and Gulpur. The MoD stated that 21 active terror camps have been identified across the border, many of which remain under LeT and JeM control.
Among the killed were senior operatives:
- Khalid Abu Akasha: A Peshawar-based LeT handler and arms trafficker linked to JuD leaders like Yahya Mujahid and Abdul Rehman.
- Mudassir Khadian Khas: In-charge of Muridke camp, son-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, and close aide of LeT deputy chief.
- Mohammad Hassan Khan: JeM terrorist tied to Pulwama attack planning; based in Syedna Bilal camp.
- Hafiz Muhammed Jameel: Brother-in-law and advisor to JeM chief Masood Azhar, overseeing operations in Bahawalpur.
India’s response came after Pakistan’s drone and missile provocations post the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. India neutralized multiple drone threats and struck targets with precision.
India also asserted that it seeks resolution via direct DGMO-level talks, rejecting any third-party mediation. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reiterated that India’s retaliation was a “controlled, precise, measured, and non-escalatory” response.
India has made clear that Operation Sindoor sets a precedent: cross-border terror will now invite calibrated, decisive retaliation. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s alleged attempts to damage civilian structures, including a Gurdwara and Madrasa in Poonch, further expose its tactics amid mounting international scrutiny.
