Pakistan Moves Troops to Forward Areas, Signals Escalation Intent: Indian Defence Briefing

Indian Air Force confirms heightened activity across LoC as Pakistan mobilises troops; India warns of proportionate response while reaffirming commitment to de-escalation.

New Delhi, May 10 – The Indian defence establishment on Friday stated that the Pakistan Army has begun mobilising troops toward forward positions, suggesting a deliberate intent to escalate the ongoing military standoff.

Speaking during a special media briefing on Operation Sindoor, Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said,

“Pakistani troops have been observed moving into forward areas, indicating their intent to further escalate the tensions.”

The statement came amid continued hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours following India’s retaliatory strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

Wing Commander Singh emphasized that India’s armed forces remain on high operational alert, and every hostile action so far has been met with a swift and proportionate response.

“Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates,” she added.

Meanwhile, Indian intelligence and surveillance units have also picked up increased logistical movement and forward deployment of armoured columns by Pakistani forces, particularly in the Sialkot, Jhang, and Lahore sectors.

The development comes just hours after Pakistan launched a new offensive—Operation Bunyan al-Marsus—which included drone and missile attacks on over two dozen Indian locations, all of which were intercepted or neutralised, according to Indian officials.

India continues to stress its preference for restraint and diplomacy, even as it maintains robust preparedness along its northern and western borders.
