“Pakistan Must Raise the Bar to Challenge Formidable India”—Mudassar Nazar on Champions Trophy Clash

As Pakistan fights to stay in the Champions Trophy 2025, former cricketer Mudassar Nazar believes they must play to their full potential to stand a chance against a well-balanced Indian side in Dubai.

Dubai [UAE], February 22: As the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, former Pakistan cricketer Mudassar Nazar has urged the Men in Green to step up their game if they want to defeat a strong Indian team.

“India is a formidable team. Hopefully, Pakistan will play up to its potential and try to reverse these results. If Pakistan raises the bar tomorrow, they can put on a grand show,” Mudassar said ahead of Sunday’s showdown in Dubai.

Pakistan is under immense pressure after a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in their opening match. Another loss to India would put their semi-final hopes in serious jeopardy, forcing them to rely on other results to advance.

On the other hand, India started their campaign strongly, securing a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, giving them better familiarity with the Dubai pitch and momentum heading into the clash.

“India Has All Bases Covered”—Mudassar Nazar

Mudassar acknowledged that while playing conditions in Dubai won’t be a major factor, facing India’s well-rounded squad will be a massive challenge for Pakistan.

“Conditions are not that different. Playing here against India is a different thing altogether. India has all the bases covered,” he said.

He also highlighted the impact of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who could be key with both bat and ball.

“They have (Ravindra) Jadeja, one of the greatest all-rounders. This surface will suit him in both batting and bowling. There is no denying the fact that India poses a great threat to Pakistan. But whoever handles the pressure better will thrive,” Mudassar added.

IPL Chairman Backs India to Win

Adding to the excitement, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal is confident that India will emerge victorious.

“I think the whole world of cricket is excited for this match. The way Rohit and Virat have found their rhythm, I believe India will play well and win. Shami bowled well too. I think it will be a good match, and India will win it,” Dhumal stated.

As the countdown to this high-voltage encounter continues, all eyes will be on whether Pakistan can bounce back or if India will tighten their grip on the tournament.
