Pakistan Targets Indian Airbases in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda: Centre’s Special Briefing

In a coordinated response, India asserts strikes were defensive, measured; senior officials brief nation amid ongoing Operation Sindoor.

May 10, 2025: New Delhi — In a high-level special briefing on Saturday morning, the Government of India confirmed that Pakistan launched coordinated attacks on Indian airbases located in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda overnight, marking a serious escalation in hostilities along the western front.

The briefing was jointly led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force. This marks the second formal address in 48 hours under the umbrella of Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike operation following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

“The Pakistani Army’s latest actions represent clear provocation. In response, India has acted in a measured and calculated manner, keeping civilian safety and regional stability in mind,” said Mr. Misri.

Indian forces have already responded to Pakistani aggression by destroying several drone launch pads and terror infrastructure in Sialkot, PoK, and other border regions. The IAF and Army, using S-400, Barak-8, and Akash missile defence systems, continue to intercept incoming aerial threats.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi reiterated India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty:

“Every drone, missile, or shell targeting our civilians and installations will be countered with firm resolve and precision.”

Meanwhile, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh highlighted the deliberate targeting of airbases, calling the strikes an unacceptable breach of international norms. She praised India’s air defence systems for neutralizing multiple incoming drones, minimizing damage and avoiding civilian casualties.
