Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Within Hours: Shelling Reported in Jammu, Srinagar, Barmer, Blackouts Return

Despite agreeing to a full ceasefire, Pakistan resumes shelling in multiple Indian border districts; fatalities rise and air raid alerts issued amid renewed cross-border tensions.

May 10, 2025: Just hours after a landmark ceasefire agreement was announced between India and Pakistan, hostilities have resumed — with multiple ceasefire violations reported from key Indian border areas on Saturday evening.

According to latest updates, shelling and air raids were reported from Srinagar, Baramulla, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Barmer, and parts of Punjab including Hoshiarpur and Ferozepur. As a result, blackouts have been urgently enforced across several districts as a precautionary measure.

The Indian government, which had earlier confirmed that all military action between the two nations had ceased from 5:00 pm IST, has yet to issue an updated statement on Pakistan’s breach. However, senior officials have expressed concern over the situation.

In Udhampur, a missile strike in the morning led to the death of IAF Sergeant Surendra Kumar, raising India’s fatality count from cross-border hostilities to 23 since Wednesday. The BSF also mourned the loss of Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, killed during heavy firing in the R S Pura sector.

Meanwhile, air raid alerts have been issued in Barmer, Rajasthan, with authorities imposing urgent blackouts to prevent further civilian casualties. Ambala district has extended its blackout order overnight due to heightened threats.

Earlier in the day, the ceasefire announcement had been welcomed by world leaders and officials, including US President Donald Trump, who claimed mediation success. However, these renewed attacks cast doubt on the durability of the agreement.

As tensions reignite, the Indian armed forces remain in a state of operational readiness, reiterating that any further escalation will be met with a “decisive response.”
