Para Asian Games: India secures silver, bronze in para-archery team events

Hangzhou [China]: India’s great run at the Para Asian Games in Hangzhou continued as women’s doubles compound team and men’s doubles recurve team secured a silver and bronze on Wednesday.

The women’s doubles compound duo of Sheetal and Sarita won a silver medal in open event.

India lost to China by 152-150 in the gold medal match. It was a tightly-fought game with a very little difference between both teams in four sets. India managed to win the set three by a point and had seven tens in comparison to nine tens by China.

In the men’s double recurve open event, the pair of Harvinder and Sahil won a bronze medal by beating Thailand in the bronze medal clash. India won the clash by 6-0 and did not let Thailand win even a single of the three sets played. Thailand hit zero tens but India had three.

India has won 50 medals so far, consisting of 13 gold, 17 silver and 20 bronze medals. India has two silver and a bronze in para-archery.

India’s performance in 2018 games at Indonesia, which earned them 15 gold, 24 silver and 33 bronze and a total of 72 medals, is their best so far.

The fourth edition of Para Asian Games will take place from October 22-28.
