Paresh Rawal Defends Akshay Kumar Doing Multiple Film Per Year: "He Isn't Smuggling Or Selling Drugs"
February 24, 2025: Bollywood veteran Paresh Rawal has come out in strong support of his Hera Pheri co-star Akshay Kumar, defending his choice to work on multiple films every year. The two are set to reunite in the upcoming horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla, slated for release on April 2, 2026.

In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh Rawal dismissed concerns that Akshay’s busy schedule affects his film quality. “Honestly, what’s the problem if he does multiple films? Producers approach him because they trust him to deliver,” Rawal stated.
Rawal further emphasized that Akshay’s work ethic is beyond reproach. “He isn’t smuggling, boot-legging, selling drugs, or gambling. He simply loves to work and, in doing so, provides employment to thousands. Where’s the issue in that?” he added.
The actor also praised Akshay’s sincerity and dedication. “He is honest, hardworking, and an absolute family man. There’s no pretense with him, and he’s a delight to work with.”
Having starred in over 20 films together, including Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, OMG: Oh My God, Aitraaz, and Garam Masala, Paresh Rawal acknowledged the comfort level they share. “There’s no insecurity between us. I can’t do what he does, whether it’s action or looking as dashing as he does. Working with him is fun, and the money is just an added bonus,” he said with a laugh.
Their next collaboration, Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, is set to release on April 2, 2026. The film is expected to bring back the duo’s signature comic timing, making it one of the most awaited releases of the year.
