Priyansh Arya’s Blazing Century Shocks CSK, Equals Travis Head's IPL Record
Mullanpur (Punjab), April 9: In a sensational display of power-hitting, Punjab Kings’ uncapped opener Priyansh Arya lit up the 22nd match of IPL 2025 with a blistering maiden century, smashing 103 off just 42 balls against the Chennai Super Kings. The 21-year-old’s innings, laced with 7 boundaries and 9 sixes, came at a staggering strike rate of 245.24 — and marked the fourth-fastest hundred in IPL history.
“Out of the world feeling,” said Priyansh post-match. “I’m very happy, but I still feel I can do more for the team. After my last dismissal, Shreyas advised me to bat with intent from ball one. When Nehal joined me, I told him we’ll rotate strike, but he encouraged me to just play freely.”
Arya’s ton came off just 39 deliveries, tying him with Australian star Travis Head, who achieved the same feat in IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The fastest-ever IPL century remains with Chris Gayle, who hammered a 30-ball hundred for RCB against Pune Warriors India in 2013.
Notably, Priyansh becomes only the eighth uncapped player in IPL history to score a century — joining an elite club that includes the likes of Shaun Marsh, Manish Pandey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
His heroics not only revived Punjab Kings after early setbacks but also sent a strong message to selectors, fans, and opponents alike.
