Quinton De Kock Named ODI Player Of The Year

On Friday, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the winners of their annual awards, highlighting outstanding performances in the cricketing season. Quinton de Kock was named the South African ODI Player of the Year after his exceptional performance at the 2023 World Cup, where he scored four centuries. Despite his retirement from 50-over cricket, his contributions were celebrated and recognized.

  • ODI Player of the Year: Quinton de Kock
His four centuries in the World Cup were pivotal for South Africa, showcasing his skill and consistency.
  • T20I Player of the Year: Reeza Hendricks
Hendricks was the only South African batter to score a half-century during the eligible period, which excluded the T20 World Cup.

  • Players’ Player of the Year: Keshav Maharaj
Maharaj made a remarkable comeback from an Achilles injury and played a significant role in the ODI World Cup, earning recognition from his peers.

  • Men’s Player of the Year: Marco Jansen
Jansen excelled with 17 wickets in the ODI World Cup and had strong performances in the Boxing Day Test against India.

  • Test Player of the Year: David Bedingham
Bedingham had an impressive debut against India and continued to perform well in New Zealand. He was also named International Newcomer of the Year.

The awards ceremony, held in September, ensured the presence of all nationally contracted players, as many are unavailable in May due to the IPL. The awards considered performances from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, while upcoming performances at the June Men’s T20 World Cup and the West Indies series will be included in next year’s awards.

This recognition reflects the incredible talent and dedication of South African cricketers, both in domestic and international formats.
