Railways Pacer Himanshu Sangwan Calls Dismissing Virat Kohli a ‘Dream Come True’

The young bowler shares his excitement after knocking over Virat Kohli’s stumps in a Ranji Trophy clash, calling it the “most special moment” of his career.

New Delhi, January 31 – Railways pacer Himanshu Sangwan had the moment of his life when he dismissed Virat Kohli during a thrilling Ranji Trophy clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The young bowler knocked over the Indian cricket stalwart’s stumps for just 6 runs, calling it a “special moment” and a dream come true.

The match witnessed thousands of fans turning up to see their hometown hero, Virat Kohli, bat for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy for the first time since 2012. However, their excitement quickly turned to disappointment when Sangwan’s brilliant delivery shattered Kohli’s off-stump, sending shockwaves through the stadium.

Sangwan on His Career-Defining Wicket

Reflecting on the dismissal, Sangwan expressed his admiration for Kohli, acknowledging the significance of playing against such a cricketing icon.

“People across India draw inspiration from Virat. Picking his wicket was a special moment for me. It was a dream come true,” Sangwan told ANI.

He also highlighted the impact of senior Indian players participating in domestic cricket, stating that their presence provides invaluable learning opportunities for upcoming players.

“With Virat bhaiya playing, the Ranji Trophy is gaining so much importance. It feels great. We get to learn a lot from them. Sharing the dressing room with them is a huge thing,” he added.

A Stunning Battle Between Sangwan & Kohli

As Virat Kohli stepped onto the crease, the crowd erupted in cheers, anticipating a masterclass from the legendary batter. Kohli showed glimpses of his brilliance, playing a textbook straight drive to the boundary.

However, on the very next delivery, Sangwan adjusted his length, outfoxing Kohli and sending his off-stump cartwheeling. Fans, who had been cheering moments earlier, were left in stunned silence as Kohli walked back to the pavilion with a score of 6 (14 balls).

Indian Stars Elevating the Ranji Trophy

With the return of several renowned Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul, the Ranji Trophy has seen a significant rise in intensity and excitement. Their presence has elevated the domestic format, drawing larger crowds and creating an electrifying atmosphere in Indian domestic cricket.

Sangwan’s moment of glory is a testament to how young domestic players benefit from competing against the best, making the Ranji Trophy even more competitive and thrilling for fans.
