Rain Knocks Pakistan Out of T20 WC, USA seals spot in Super 8

Pakistan has been knocked out of the T20 World Cup after rain washed out the Group A clash between the USA and Ireland on Friday. The no-result match awarded both teams a point each, bringing the USA’s tally to five points and securing their place in the Super 8 stage. This is the seventh instance of an associate team progressing to the next round.

Pakistan can only reach four points if they win their upcoming game against Ireland in Florida on Sunday. Despite Ireland being in the mix if they win both their games, they too have been ruled out of the Super 8s as neither team can match the USA’s tally.

India had already qualified for the next round after defeating the USA by seven wickets on Wednesday in New York.

The match between the USA and Ireland was called off without the toss due to persistent rain. Despite a brief window of clear weather raising hopes for a game, the rain ultimately ruled out any possibility of play.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan won their first match against Canada, securing a seven-wicket victory thanks to an all-round performance. Meanwhile, the USA put up a strong fight against India in their previous match but eventually lost by seven wickets.
