Rain Threatens Crucial MI vs DC IPL 2025 Clash at Wankhede

IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai; playoff hopes of both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals may hinge on final league games if rain washes out Wednesday’s fixture

Mumbai, May 21:
A crucial Indian Premier League 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC), scheduled for Wednesday at Wankhede Stadium, faces the looming threat of being washed out due to persistent rainfall and a yellow alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the city.

Heavy rain lashed Mumbai on Tuesday evening around 8 PM, disrupting DC’s scheduled practice session. Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul had to cut short his nets due to the downpour. Fortunately, MI had already wrapped up their training earlier in the evening. Throughout the night, dark clouds hovered over Wankhede, with intense showers causing concern for both teams and fans.

The game holds significant playoff implications. MI currently sit fourth on the points table with 14 points from 12 matches (seven wins), while DC are fifth, closely behind with 13 points from as many games. A washout would result in each side earning just one point, making their final group fixtures must-win encounters to secure a top-four finish.

MI will face Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home on May 26, while DC take on the same side at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 24.

Squads:

Mumbai Indians:
