RCB Clinch Their Maiden IPL 2025 Trophy After 18 Years! PBKS Cave-in, Manage 184/7 While Chasing 191 Target

Punjab Kings falter under pressure in final overs as RCB bowlers, led by Bhuvneshwar and Krunal, push Bengaluru to the brink of their first-ever IPL title.

June 3, 2025 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win their first-ever IPL title! Playing the Final against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium RCB scored 190/9 in their 20 overs. Chasing 191 for victory, PBKS were unable to chase the total.

The turning point came courtesy of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who delivered a sensational third over, removing Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis in quick succession. Stoinis had threatened a late-game twist by smashing a six off his very first delivery, but perished on the next ball, edging to Yash Dayal at short third.

PBKS’s chase, which had started positively, began to unravel as wickets tumbled. Earlier, Josh Inglis (39 off 23) tried to anchor the innings, but Krunal Pandya dismissed him with a crucial strike at long-on, capping off a brilliant spell of 4-0-17-2 in a high-stakes final.

While Shashank Singh (25)* showed late resistance with a six off Hazlewood and some crucial boundaries, the required rate has climbed above 18 runs per over. Partnered now by tail-ender Kyle Jamieson, PBKS stared at a steep climb when they felt the title slipping from their grasp.

RCB had earlier posted 190/9, with Virat Kohli (43) and Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10) contributing key runs. PBKS bowlers Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Jamieson (3/48) ensured that Bengaluru didn’t cross 200.

Despite aggressive intent by PBKS, disciplined bowling and sharp fielding by RCB have swung the momentum in their favor. With the crowd on the edge of their seats and the clock ticking down, RCB can now almost taste the victory that has eluded them for 17 seasons.
