RCB Go Top of IPL 2025 Table After Six-Wicket Win Over Delhi Capitals
New Delhi, April 28:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) surged to the top of the IPL 2025 points table after a solid six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing 163, RCB endured early setbacks, slumping to 26/3 with debutant Jacob Bethell (12), Devdutt Padikkal (0), and captain Rajat Patidar (6) all falling cheaply. However, a match-defining 119-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya revived the innings.
Kohli anchored the chase with a composed 51 off 47 balls, while Krunal Pandya starred with an unbeaten 73 off 47 deliveries, smashing five fours and four sixes. After Kohli’s dismissal late in the innings by Dushmantha Chameera, Tim David stepped up with a blistering 19 off just five balls to seal the win for RCB in 18.3 overs.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals posted 162/8 after being sent in to bat. Despite a quick start from openers Faf du Plessis (22) and Abhishek Porel (28), RCB’s bowlers, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/33) and Josh Hazlewood (2/36), kept the scoring under control.
KL Rahul (41) and Tristan Stubbs (34) added some resistance, while Axar Patel (15) and Vipraj Nigam (12*) chipped in late runs. However, wickets fell regularly, and DC finished with a modest total.
For Delhi, Axar Patel was the standout bowler, taking 2/19 in his four overs, but it wasn’t enough to prevent RCB’s momentum.
With this win, RCB clinched their seventh victory of the season and now sit atop the points table as the league phase nears its climax, while DC remain in fourth place.
