Real Madrid 3 – 1 VfB Stuttgart
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Real Madrid. Antonio Rüdiger added a second goal. Endrick scored a late third goal, making history as the youngest Champions League scorer for Real Madrid. Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav equalized temporarily with a header.
Real Madrid struggled throughout the match but managed to secure the win. Stuttgart had the better chances early on, with Thibaut Courtois making several crucial saves.
A notable moment occurred when Stuttgart’s Undav hit the bar with a deflected shot in the 28th minute. Just before halftime, Real Madrid was denied a penalty when Rüdiger was brought down, as the referee deemed it a soft foul.
The momentum shifted shortly after halftime when Aurelien Tchouameni’s assist led to Mbappé’s close-range goal. Stuttgart equalized with Undav’s header but could not maintain the level, as Rüdiger’s header restored
Madrid’s lead. The 2024-25 season will introduce a new league format featuring 36 teams competing in a league phase. Each team will play eight matches against different opponents, split evenly between home and away fixtures. The top eight teams will advance directly to the knockout stage, while teams ranked 9th to 24th will enter a two-legged playoff for the remaining spots.
