Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming Test and T20I series against Bangladesh, emphasizing that Team India aims to maintain high intensity regardless of the opposition. With the two-match Test series kicking off at home from September 19, all eyes will be on Pant, especially as he prepares for red-ball cricket by playing for India B in the Duleep Trophy.
In an interview with Jio Cinema, Pant highlighted that teams like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka tend to perform well in Asian conditions due to their familiarity with the pitches. However, he stated that Team India’s focus remains on upholding their own standards and continuous improvement. Pant was quoted as saying, “Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka perform well in Asian conditions because they are accustomed to the wickets. However, as the Indian cricket team, we focus solely on our own standards and how we can improve. Regardless of the opposition, we strive to play with the same intensity and give our hundred percent every single day.”

The series against Bangladesh will feature a two-match Test and a three-match T20I series from September 19 to October 12. Bangladesh’s spinners like Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz could pose a significant challenge on spin-friendly Indian tracks.
Following the Bangladesh series, India will face New Zealand in a three-match Test series from October 16 to November 5. Both series will serve as crucial preparation for India ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year.
Bangladesh comes into this series in top form, having recently whitewashed Pakistan in a 2-0 Test series victory, clinching a 10-wicket win in the first Test and a 6-wicket victory in the second.
