Riyan Parag Scripts IPL History With 6 Consecutive Sixes, But KKR Clinch Last-Ball Thriller
Kolkata, May 4, 2025 —
Riyan Parag etched his name into the IPL history books by becoming the first player to hit six consecutive sixes in the league, but his heroic 95 off 45 balls couldn’t prevent a narrow one-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in a pulsating IPL 2025 contest at Eden Gardens.
Parag’s feat came in a whirlwind assault where he smashed five sixes off Moeen Ali in the 13th over and followed it up with another maximum off Varun Chakravarthy on the second ball of the next over — scripting a moment that will be remembered for years.

Despite his explosive knock (6 fours, 8 sixes), Parag fell just five runs short of a maiden IPL century, and RR’s valiant chase of 207 ended in heartbreak at 205/8.
Needing 22 off the last over, Shubham Dubey took the game deep with two sixes and a four, reducing the equation to 3 from the final delivery. But a smart move by Ajinkya Rahane, placing Rinku Singh at long-off, proved to be a masterstroke. Singh’s direct throw caught Jofra Archer short as Vaibhav Arora dislodged the bails to clinch a thriller for KKR.

Earlier, Andre Russell bludgeoned a vintage 57 off 25 balls*, powering KKR to 206/4 after a late onslaught alongside Rinku Singh. The pair added 85 runs in the final five overs.
With this win, KKR move to sixth place with 11 points in 11 games, keeping their playoff hopes mathematically alive. RR, already eliminated, may rue the missed opportunity despite Parag’s brilliance.
