Cuttack (Odisha), February 10: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made a sensational return to form in the second ODI against England, smashing a stunning 119 off 90 balls and etching his name in cricket’s record books. With this knock, Rohit overtook Rahul Dravid to break into the top 10 all-time run-getters in ODIs, further cementing his legacy as one of India’s finest batters.

Rohit Surpasses Dravid, Enters ODI’s Top 10 Run-Scorers List

With this century, Rohit Sharma now sits at the 10th position among all-time highest run-getters in ODIs. In 267 ODIs, he has amassed 10,987 runs at an average of 49.26, with 32 centuries and 57 half-centuries.

He has surpassed Rahul Dravid, who scored 10,889 runs in 344 matches at an average of 39.16, with 12 centuries and 83 half-centuries.

Second-Highest Run-Getter for India as an Opener

Rohit also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become India’s second-highest run-getter as an opener in international cricket.

Closing in on Most Sixes Record in ODIs

Rohit’s seven sixes in Cuttack also took him past Chris Gayle’s record of 331 sixes, placing him second on the all-time list for most sixes in ODIs.

After England opted to bat, Joe Root (69 off 72) and Ben Duckett (65 off 56) powered them to 304 runs. Contributions from Liam Livingstone (41 off 32) and Jos Buttler (34 off 35) helped England cross the 300-run mark.

For India, Ravindra Jadeja (3/35 in 10 overs) was the standout bowler.

Chasing 305, Rohit (119 off 90) and Shubman Gill (60 off 52) laid the foundation with a 136-run opening stand. Shreyas Iyer (44 off 47) and Axar Patel (41 off 43)* finished the chase in 45 overs, giving India a 2-0 series win.

With the series already secured, India will now face England in the final ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Wednesday, February 14.
