Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya Praise 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi After Historic IPL Century

Vaibhav becomes the youngest T20 centurion and fastest Indian century-maker in IPL history, earning applause from cricketing giants.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya have hailed 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi after his record-shattering century against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur on Monday.

Suryavanshi made history by becoming the youngest-ever centurion in T20 cricket and the fastest Indian to score a hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL), reaching his century in just 35 balls.

Following his breathtaking innings, Rohit Sharma shared an Instagram story describing Vaibhav’s knock as “Class.”
Hardik Pandya was equally impressed, posting, “What a talent, what a performance” on his Instagram story.

During RR’s chase of 210 runs, Vaibhav treated fans to a masterclass in clean ball-striking, hammering 101 off just 38 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 265.79. His innings included seven fours and 11 sixes, accounting for 94 runs in boundaries — the highest boundary percentage (93%) in any IPL century.

Vaibhav’s record-breaking knock places him second on the list of fastest IPL centuries, behind only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball 100 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013. He also equaled Murali Vijay’s record for most sixes (11) by an Indian in an IPL innings.

The 14-year-old now also holds the record for the youngest player to score a century in T20 cricket, surpassing Vijay Zol’s previous record at 18 years and 118 days. This innings ranks as the seventh-fastest T20 century globally.

Vaibhav also reached his fifty in just 17 balls — the fifth-fastest in IPL history — further underlining his extraordinary talent.

Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal (70* off 40 balls), Vaibhav was part of a 166-run partnership — the highest for any wicket for Rajasthan Royals, breaking the previous record held by Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal (155 runs).

Vaibhav’s sensational rise has been rapid. Bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore in the last IPL mega auction, he had already made his first-class debut for Bihar at just 12 years and 284 days old. He was part of India’s U19 squad last year and scored a blistering 58-ball century against Australia.

In the ongoing IPL season, Vaibhav has accumulated 151 runs in three matches at an average of 75.50 and a strike rate of 222.05, with a best score of 101*.
