Rohit Sharma Reportedly Raises Concerns Against Sunil Gavaskar to BCCI

Rohit Sharma allegedly finds Sunil Gavaskar’s recent commentary on his form “too negative” and expresses discomfort to the cricket board.

January 29, 2025: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly filed a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) against legendary cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar. According to CricBlogger, Rohit expressed concerns about Gavaskar’s critical remarks regarding his form during the recent Test series against Australia.

Rohit, who managed just 31 runs in three Test matches and later dropped himself for the final match in Sydney, allegedly felt Gavaskar’s commentary was overly negative. In his column for the Sydney Morning Herald, Gavaskar speculated that Rohit might step down from captaincy if his form did not improve. This comment reportedly added to Rohit’s unease, leading him to communicate his discomfort to the BCCI.

The report highlights that Rohit believes external pressure from prominent figures like Gavaskar could have a detrimental impact on his performance.


Rohit and Team Miss Ranji Clash to Prepare for England Series

Rohit, along with teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, will skip Mumbai’s crucial Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya as they gear up for the upcoming ODI series against England, starting February 6 in Nagpur.

Mumbai, currently third in Group A, faces a must-win scenario to qualify for the next stage of the Ranji Trophy. Despite Rohit and Jaiswal’s return to domestic cricket under new BCCI guidelines, their recent performances have been modest, with Rohit scoring just 31 runs across two innings against Jammu & Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer continues to shine, having amassed 480 runs this Ranji season at an average of 68.57, alongside standout performances in white-ball tournaments.
