In a robust defence and counterattack operation, the Indian military used a sophisticated blend of Russian, Israeli, and indigenous weapon systems to thwart Pakistan’s twin-wave missile and drone offensive, while simultaneously executing targeted counter-strikes deep inside enemy territory.

The first wave of Pakistani attacks began late night on May 7, targeting 15 Indian cities, followed by a second wave on May 8, aimed at critical areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. India responded decisively by activating its integrated air defence network and retaliating with precision strikes on Pakistani military infrastructure, including air defence radars in Lahore.


🛡️ S-400, Akash and Harop: India’s Shield and Spear

Indian defence forces deployed the Russian-made S-400 Triumf air defence systems alongside India’s own Akash surface-to-air missiles to neutralise incoming threats. These systems operated under a unified radar and command control grid, effectively countering drones, cruise missiles, and aircraft.

“The threats were swiftly engaged using kinetic and non-kinetic measures,” officials stated.

Additionally, Israeli-origin Harop drones, known as kamikaze or suicide drones, were used in offensive roles against Pakistani radar installations and air defence networks, with confirmed hits on key systems in Lahore.

  • HAMMER smart bombs
  • Excalibur artillery rounds fired from M777 howitzers
  • Tactical drone strikes

These strikes focused exclusively on terror camps belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba across PoK and Pakistan, and were designed to avoid civilian casualties.


💥 Cities Targeted by Pakistan, India Responds with Force

Pakistan’s attempt to escalate included targeting cities such as Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Phalodi, and Bhuj—home to key airbases and military hubs. However, all eight incoming missiles on May 8 were intercepted, with unconfirmed reports of a Pakistani F-16 being shot down.

The Indian defence ministry confirmed that debris from intercepted drones and missiles was recovered from multiple Indian sites.
