S. Jaishankar to visit United Arab Emirates as India backs peace between United States and Iran

April 8, 2026: India has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, reiterating its consistent stance in favour of de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy. Officials said the development aligns with New Delhi’s long-standing position that negotiations must lead to lasting peace and regional stability.

Following the announcement, the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi also welcomed the move, sharing a message on social media that referenced a past statement by Ali Khamenei. The post underscored Iran’s stance amid the evolving situation, adding a symbolic dimension to the diplomatic developments.

Meanwhile, S. Jaishankar is expected to visit the United Arab Emirates soon, as India steps up its diplomatic engagement in West Asia. The visit is part of broader efforts by New Delhi to maintain regional stability and strengthen ties amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
