Sheikh Mansoor Flags Off Record-Breaking Dubai International Baja 2024

Dubai [UAE], November 30: The eighth edition of the Dubai International Baja, a premier off-road motorsport event, was officially flagged off by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the event runs from November 28 to December 1, coinciding with celebrations for the 53rd Eid Al Etihad.

Organized by the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO) in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai International Baja brings together top racers from across the globe to tackle challenging terrains in the UAE.

A Historic Motorsport Legacy

Celebrating 45 years since its inception as the Dubai International Rally in 1979, the Baja format was introduced in 1997 to better suit the UAE’s desert landscape. This adaptation allowed the inclusion of cars, buggies, bikes, and quads, significantly enhancing its global appeal.

This year’s event features a record 65 cars and 32 bikes from 37 countries, with coverage broadcast in 190 territories worldwide. Starting in the rugged terrains of Hatta, the rally progresses to the demanding dunes of Al Qudra Desert, offering participants a breathtaking yet grueling course.

Global Recognition

The Dubai International Baja is a part of both the 2024 FIA World Baja Cup and the 2024 FIM Bajas World Cup calendars, marking the season finale for these prestigious championships. This edition will crown the FIA World Cup champion and winners of individual classes, promising an exhilarating conclusion to the racing season.
