October 11, 2024: In a deeply emotional moment on Bigg Boss 18, actress Shilpa Shirodkar shared her personal struggles after the loss of both her parents in 2008. Known for her successful Bollywood career in the 1990s, Shilpa revealed that the tragedy led her into severe depression, marking one of the darkest phases of her life.
During a heartfelt conversation with fellow contestant Gunaratna Sadavarte on the October 8 episode, Shilpa tearfully recounted her journey through grief. She praised her husband, Apresh Ranjit, for being her rock during this painful period. “When my parents passed away in 2008, I went into severe depression. Aparesh was doing so well in his career, but he left everything, and we moved to India,” she shared, visibly emotional. She expressed that without Apresh’s support and sacrifice, his career in banking could have reached even greater heights.

The conversation became even more reflective when Gunaratna praised Shilpa’s acting career, comparing her talent to Bollywood icons like Madhuri Dixit. He noted how she had stepped away from a flourishing career, saying, “You were one of the few actresses who could have risen to the same level as Madhuri. But suddenly, you decided to quit the industry.”
Shilpa gracefully acknowledged the unexpected twists in her life but expressed no regrets. “Par naseeb naseeb ki baat hai, and I don’t regret anything,” she responded. Gunaratna further remarked that while she may not regret her choices, her fans missed seeing her on screen during her hiatus.
