Rajasthan Royals Accused of Match-Fixing by RCA Official After Shocking Defeat to LSG
Jaipur, April 22 — A major controversy has erupted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after Rajasthan Royals (RR) were accused of potential match-fixing by Jaideep Bihani, convenor of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee, following their nail-biting two-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 19.
Speaking to News18 Rajasthan, Bihani questioned the Royals’ tactics during the final over of the match, suggesting that a deliberate loss “cannot be ruled out” given how the match unfolded at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Bihani, also an MLA from Sri Ganganagar, criticized the team’s final-over collapse when RR needed just 9 runs off 6 balls with Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer at the crease.
“How can a team playing at home, needing just 9 runs in the final over, lose in such fashion? It raises serious questions,” Bihani said.
He also accused Rajasthan Royals of sidelining RCA during IPL operations, alleging that control was handed over to the Zila Parishad despite the BCCI originally communicating with RCA.

“The BCCI wrote to RCA, not the Zila Parishad. And now RR say there’s no MoU with Sawai Mansingh Stadium — then how are matches still being hosted?” Bihani questioned.
In a match that saw 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi make his IPL debut, RR fell short of 181-run target. Hetmyer was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the final over, and only three runs were scored off the last three deliveries, leaving RR at 178/5 in 20 overs.
With Sanju Samson absent due to injury, Rajasthan Royals are languishing in 8th place on the IPL 2025 table with just 2 wins in 8 matches.
Neither the Rajasthan Royals franchise nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an official statement in response to the allegations. However, the RCA official’s remarks have stirred calls for an independent investigation into the match’s final over and the franchise’s operational ties with local authorities.
